India is on the path of becoming third-largest energy consumer with continued economic and population growth and increasing urbanization, seeking to balance energy demand and growth with a clean energy transition. India is also at the forefront of energy transition with an ambitious target of 500 GW of renewable energy (RE) and several millions of electric vehicles (EV) rollout by 2030. India is the only country which has met 2030 target committed under the Paris Climate Agreement for 40% RE capacity in 2022. To continue on a clean energy pathway, a number of smart technologies and fuel alternatives can help drive India’s energy transition. In addition to continuing to integrate renewable energy coupled with energy storage, smart grid technologies and demand side management will be critical to create  a more reliable and resilient energy system. Highly disruptive black swan events like Covid-19 had presented never before opportunities for innovation and transformation with profound implications in the long term. India has now embarked on the digitalization drive and embracing emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Robotics, Blockchain which is opening up new business opportunities for organizations providing tools and services to host and manage the humungous amounts of data. Expo’s Vision and Mission for India
Trade and Investments in India continue to maintain its momentum driven by economic and social developments and population growth. The Government has initiated numerous schemes to enable India’s transition into a global economic hub. India's commitment to build 100 Smart Cities under the Smart Cities Mission amplifies the Prime Minister’s vision of smart, efficient cities. An investment of USD 30 billion has been proposed for 100 cities under the Smart Cities Mission. In the last five years, the Mission has grown from strength to strength with a goal of building resilient, liveable and sustainable cities. The Smart Cities Mission has ushered in a new urban discourse in India. The Mission has already implemented over 5,100 projects worth around `INR 2,05,000 crores, that are positively impacting the lives of close to 100 million citizens.

It is meant to set examples that can be replicated both within and outside the Smart City, catalysing the creation of similar Smart Cities in various regions and parts of the country. Towards this initiative the 8th Smart Cities India expo 2023 is scheduled from 27-29 March 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India. The Expo includes several collated Expos- Clean India, Buildings India, Transport India, Smart Energy India and Water India. The three-day expo is a hub for transformative technologies, innovation and everything that’s smart & sustainable. The expo is a leading platform to showcase breakthrough technologies and envisions for a sustainable future by bringing together all the stakeholders to share best practices and unlock opportunities The aim is to contribute to India growth story and provide a platform to showcase "Brand India"
